We are very fortunate to have Lake Accotink Park in our part of the county. Let’s all do our part and raise some funds for park improvements and recreation programs by doing laps around Lake Accotink Park (LAP 4 LAP)!
The LAP 4 LAP main event will be Sunday, November 7th, 9 a.m., starting at the Marina. This is a noncompetitive event meant to be fun for the whole family. Many of the participants will walk and/or run one 3.8 mile lap, but we encourage the more hardy among you to strive for more laps.
If you prefer to do laps at other times that weekend (either instead of or in addition to Sunday), we’ve got you covered. We are expanding the weekend long lap challenge to include start times of Friday 12-5, Saturday 9-5, and Sunday 9-4. And our lap board will keep track of your efforts. How many can we do for the weekend? 100? 200? 300?
Our LAP 4 LAP HQ will be the small shelter at the Marina. We encourage lap start times to be on the hour, so groups can form. We will take registrations for the 15 minutes before each hour, and 30 minutes before the main event on Sunday morning.
All registration fees will support Lake Accotink Park through the Fairfax County Park Foundation, so they are fully tax deductible. Registration is only available on-site at the event.
- The 1st lap is $20. The 2nd and 3rd laps are $10 each.
- All subsequent laps are free.
Registration gets you a participant number, a place on the on the lap tracking board, and water/Gatorade at the HQ shelter. Other support needs to be self provided, and you are welcome to leave a cooler at HQ. You can also place an order for a long-sleeve ‘I Lapped for Lake Accotink Park’ t-shirt, with optional customization with your lap count. The shirt is $15 additional.
