MARK RUSSELL

   

Mark has been a runner for many years and has completed a number of marathons and ultra-distance events. In the 1990s, Mark worked in Information Technology and Consulting as a Programmer, Trainer, Instructional Designer, and Leadership Coach at Sage Systems and Ernst & Young.  In the 2000s, Mark served in leadership roles for several local and national non-profits including The Arc of Northern Virginia, The Arc of the United States, the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation, and Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN).





HELEN RUSSELL


Helen is a walker and casual runner with a special interest in half-marathons. Helen retired from her professional career spanning over 20 years in training, programming, and IT Strategy and Advisory with Ernst & Young and BearingPoint in 2007.


Helen is a former Fairfax County Court Appointed Special Advocate and current volunteer with the Assistance League of Northern Virginia working to improve the lives and education of children in Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties.  Additionally, Helen is a patient advisor teaching advocacy and ethics to medical students at the Uniformed Health University of Health Sciences (UHUHS).

 

Helen & Mark have four children with the youngest in middle school and the oldest in graduate school.  


SUZANNE SCOGGIN


Suzanne has been part of the Metro Run & Walk family for the past 10 years.


She was the Operations Manager of the enterprise prior to our purchase of the Springfield store and the sale of the Falls Church and Rockville stores to a larger running store chain. 


In addition to her experience in the active lifestyle industry, Suzanne has been running for over 30 years, completed more than 20 marathons (sub 3 hour personal record), 1 ultra, many triathlons including 1/2 Ironmans, and is a previously nationally ranked triathlete! 


On top of that, she has two teenage children who both enjoy an active lifestyle including running, swimming, and competitive cycling.



JOHN FAITH


John has been with Metro Run & Walk since retiring from the federal government in 2004.  His 35 year federal career was spent in information technology as a programmer/analyst, project manager, Deputy Director of Data Processing,  Director of Systems and Programming and, later, human resources IT liaison. 


A heavy smoker till the age of 30, he began running in 1978 and has since completed five Ironman distance triathlons, including Ironman USA Lake Placid twice, the Great Floridian twice, and Ironman Brazil; nine marathons; 25 ten milers; and uncountable shorter distance triathlons and road races.  He's also done the 4.4 mile Great Chesapeake Bay Swim.  John is married with a full family life that includes children at home, grown kids, and two grandkids.  He is also active in his synagogue.


RICHARD PINE


Richard has been part of the Metro Run & Walk family for over 6 years, primarily working in Falls Church. He graduated from Baylor University in 2008 and is looking to continue his education in a medically-related field.

Also, an enthusiastic active lifestylist, Richard finished his first marathon when he was 16 and is currently working on his 4th marathon. He has also completed a number of half-marathons, 10-milers, a triathlon, and is currently training for a century cycling event.

Richard is additionally a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and is a co-director with our Certified Running Coach in the development and coaching of the Metro Run & Walk training programs!



HARRISON RUSSELL


Harrison is a Junior at George Mason University studying Communications.


Harrison enjoys an active lifestyle running, biking, and snowboarding.  Although Harrison was on the high school track & field team, he has never considered himself a runner.  He did attempt pole vault but was simply "too tall and gangly." 


Taking one for the team, Harrison ran on the MR&W store team in the Marine Corps Marathon this year.  He is living proof that any healthy person can complete a marathon.







BEN SCUDERA


Ben is a Junior at George Mason University having transferred from Arizona State University.


Ben ran on the Oakton High School track team and currently enjoys an active lifestyle running and biking.


Ben rode for three weeks and over 600 miles from South Carolina to Florida on his own just to get the experience of traveling the road.







 


 

CHARLES SIMPSON


Charles is a first year student at Northeastern University and has been with Metro Run & Walk since the Summer of 2008.

 

Charles was the captain of the cross-country team, played on the tennis team, and was Editor of the Yearbook.  He placed first in his division in the Litchfield Hills Triathlon and has also competed in the Cherryblossom 10-miler as well as the Charlottesville half-marathon.






 

 


KALLIE SIMS


Kallie returns to the Metro Run & Walk family after a slightly prolonged hiatus during which she was completing her final two years of undergraduate work at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.  Having primarily worked in Falls Church, she is happy to be back with the Metro Run & Walk team in Springfield!


She was a competitive runner at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, and has competed at both the region and state levels on several occasions.


Currently, she is hoping to get back into the competitive racing scene and is a volunteer assistant coach with the Washington-Lee cross country team.
